The Stomachion

Today is Tuesday- Education day. I was reading about the Stomachion in a math book, and decided to write about it.

Math book? You say. You mean, biology book?

No. I mean math book.

The Stomachion is a tanagram-like puzzle. It is accredited to Archimedes. One of the challenges is to arrange 14 pieces into a square. There are 17,152 ways to do this, but if you don’t count reflections and/or rotations, there are 536 different solutions.

You can also arrange the pieces into fun shapes:

Anyways, have fun!
